My Naughty Little Westy
By Lori Martin of Comfy Dog Boots
Well ok If you have read any of my other intels you know I have a naughty little westhiemer terrier. He just turned 1 on dec 21st. He is the most loving little guy you could ask for. he is wonderful with my little girl (Jasmine) She got him for her 3rd birthday. They play great together and she can do just about anything to him and he never growls or nips. he does chew gently LOl on her. But he is having a big problem with chewing everything he finds also. I think that it may be making him sick but I can''t get him to stop. Also I found a mouse in his dog food and I am afraid that he has eaten some of there nasty ness. He seems fine most of the time but night time his little nose gets dry and really hot. Well i guess i was maybe looking for some advice. I am going to take him to the vet but if anyone knows alot about these little guys maybe you could leave me a note. I have been told to use a squirt botttle for the chewing be a couple people so I might try that. Well this is what was bugging me today so I am writing about it LOl
I am a work at home mom. I have a wonderful family with my youngest being 3 years old and her best friend My 1 year old Brute (a naughty little westhiemer terrier) I am 43 and loving life. I am so happy I am able to be home with my last little gift to watch her grow (way to fast) Jasmine.

I think he is feeling better Thank you. guess it just had to work thru his system.
He looks very much like a Cairn Terrier and is almost identical to my Chap - another lovely little dog. He is probably chewing as his baby teeth are falling out and the new ones causing irritation - buy a chewing toy for him - one like a rope that you can twist and put little treats in to encourage him to use it. I suspect that his nose gets warm and dry at night because he has not got a fully developed nervous system. If he is sleeping somewhere inappropriate, like in a bed or in a heated room with no proper ventilation, he could be over-heating but has not yet developed the 'panting' reflex to cool himself down. If his paws are sweaty, that is almost certainly the problem.

Thank you so much for the info. It is very dry in our house and he doesn't sleep in the bed untill we get up. Then he steals my pillow. LOL He seems to be doing much better today. I think he is getting the yucks out of his system.
Thanks for sharing, Lori. He sure is a cute fellow and I hope he gets well soon. Best of luck. Frederick
